Matilda Downs is a family-owned stud farm located in Summerholm, Queensland with a focus on breeding and producing modern, athletic performance horses. Founded by Bruce Buswell, our stud is a testament to his keen eye for exceptional genetics, characterised by a horse's perfect blend of a striking front and a powerful backend. Matilda Downs offers a comprehensive range of services, including breeding, training, coaching, agisting, spellings, and arena hire, all tailored to cater to the needs of performance horses. Matilda Downs riding team is led by the accomplished Erin Buswell. Erin's showjumping journey commenced in Singapore, and now is dedicated to producing top-tier performance horses.
Bruce Buswell
Bruce recently relocated from Western Australia to Queensland to continue to cultivate and produce exceptional horses. With an innate eye, Bruce specialises in selecting horses that epitomise athleticism and versatility, crafting the ideal sport horse. His dedication shines through in each horse, from the selection of bloodlines to the care and understanding of animal husbandry.
Erin Buswell
Originally from Singapore, Erin has been one of Australia’s leading young riders since relocating in 2014. During Erin’s young rider career, she achieved various accolades which include; 2018 Australian Young Rider Champion, 2018 Triple Crown Winner (Young Rider), and 2018 Stal Tops Winner. Erin’s Young Rider record was a springboard for her World Cup debut with a podium finish.
Transitioning from the competition ring to the breeding ground, Erin now channels her passion into producing young warmbloods. Her commitment extends beyond the stables, as she competes with the horses she trains at competitions across the country.
